Pink Martini and Storm Large at Pioneer Courthouse Square

STORMIN' THE SQUARE: Storm Large, Pink Martini & members of the Oregon Symphony gathered together at noon Friday in Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland for "This Land Is Our Land"—a free concert/super rally & community sing-a-long in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street & Occupy Portland.

The rally lasted over two hours and included rousing renditions of American ballads—a highlight was hearing Storm lead the thousands-plus crowd in Dolly Parton's "Nine to Five." Speakers sharing their thoughts on the movement included Rabbi Emanuel Rose, Carrie Medina of Occupy Portland, Imam Mikal Shabazz, Congressmen Peter DeFazio and Earl Blumenauer and inspirational community activist and author Kathleen Saadat.

And Starbucks handed out free coffee and chocolate.

Word on the street is that Thomas Lauderdale would like to have more sing-a-longs in the Square.
