Collier Model, Seth Aaron, Seth Aaron Model at Portland Fashion Week

Marissa's Musings: Well alright! Friday night was what the patrons of Portland Fashion Week had been waiting for. Kicking right into high gear….Amai Unmei who always stuns was first. The red maxi was gorgeous and my absolute favorite look (see pictures below). But on an unfortunate note I was not a fan of the snow leopard print.

With Stephanie D we saw a lot of draping which makes for a very flattering cut. You can tell she makes clothes for woman by a woman. I loved the pale pink she used on many of the looks. Besides seeing a lot of nips, (the models were not wearing bras) I saw a slew of bridal looks, that I’d be happy to have my bridesmaids in -nice bright shades made me long for a summer wedding to attend so I could have an excuse to buy one of her dresses.

Pause: I just saw someone wearing FUBU socks in the front row. Just when I thought I was at a legit fashion show, I’m struck back. PLEASE, realize I’m saying that very tongue and cheek, it’s just that every time I think we’re really hitting on some serious fashion in Portland I see something like that. If as Gretchen Jones says SE is our inspiration and West Hills has the money, well, then, I don’t know here Portland Fashion Week on Swan Island fits in.

Now back to the good stuff. Ms. Wood is just the best. I am in love with her new Mary Jane version of her famous shoes. Her bright blue leggings were the shit. And OMG the white fringe dress, yea, and white and white and white - love, love, love. Let’s wear it all spring
!

Collier (!!!!!!) wins my favorite line! Anyone who knows anything about me knows that I love the prep look. This was a men’s line that was high prep and high style. Lots of: navy, elbow patches, bow ties, plaid trousers, stiff denim, and cognac brown shoe boots. Just really a greatest hits list of my favorite types of pieces. ALSO, it was sound tracked by my favorite Rolling Stones song in the history of Rolling Stones songs – “It’s Just a Shot Away”. Making this line a dream to watch from start to finsh. The final look was worn by an older gentleman who got, hoots, hollers and lots of applause. Check out the photos for all the preppy details.

Last of the night was Seth Aaron – First look, be still my heart! The brown high-waited trousers were the best fitting thing I’ve seen in a long time, and the model was killer! I couldn’t tell who it was since all models were wearing these really scary clear plastic horror masks, but whoever it was KILLED it. New Order’s “Blue Monday” was bumping in slow motion in the background making this horror inspired, line even scarier. There were shocked face graphic tees. A lavender and grey dress tailored to perfection. SA (for Seth Aaron) logos over some of the clothing that was reminiscent of the L.A.M.B logo (Gwen Stefani’s brand). Basically it was a Halloween, horror themed line, with all the models wearing either, pink or white hooker heels which, I kinda loved! Just a super fun line to watch come down the runway. Good tunes, good clothes and enthusiastic models! Who could ask for more

After a fairly boring night on Thursday, Friday night was a much-needed change in the exciting, higher end direction. With Collier stealing the show by a landslide, I’m really excited to see what they pump out in seasons to come. Seth Aaron didn’t dissapoint and neither did local darling Ms. Wood. Promising local fashion done right tonight! I was excited, happy and satisfied with what I saw.
