Party Report: Rockin' Out at The "New" Club 21
Warren and Amy Boothby at Club 21
CLUBBING IT: Club 21 is the perfect dive bar. On a semi-obscured Northeast corner, just inches away from the studios for KATU, this quaint and quirky space went through a bit of a remodel courtesy of the dude, Warren Boothby, who owns and operates the Hawthorne Blvd. hangout, Gold Dust Meridian.
But don't expect to see too many changes. Most of them were internal (like plumbing and electrical) and as far as cosmetics, Boothby just put wood paneling over wood paneling, placed some really cool pinball machines on the wall and the bar has now become a showcase for his collection of vintage beer signage.
Club 21 still looks like an Alpine version of Satyricon.
We stopped in on Friday night for the "unofficial" opening and noticed the menu has some pretty decent offerings, including a build-your-own-burger option. And, oh yeah, the music is loud too. Can't wait to see Steve Dunn jammin' to some tunes after the 11 pm news ends. This place is going to be fun.
