CELEB-U-WATCH: We've all heard about the big TV productions shooting in Portland right now. But beyond Portlandia, Leverage and Grimm, there are also other productions working their tails off to make it on the small screen.
On such project is "Delusional Donovan" which just wrapped up filming in North Portland.
Billed as a "dysfunctional family sitcom with a surreal twist" its a pilot for a possible television series on the queer-friendly Logo network and features a cast and crew of queer-friendly folks from Portland, including many of the kids from the infamous Portland-based drag troupe Sissyboy.
Delusional Donovan tells the tale of a young kid with an incredible imagination and features the marvelous and much-missed actress/singer/comic Amber Martin (the former Portland now cuts it up in New York City) and the always outrageous Lee Kyle as "Splendora" as well as Danny Fishback, Angie Collins, Angela Fair, James Peck, and Dylan Hall as Donovan.
The pilot is directed by Devan McGrath from a script by Zebra and John Camacho. On Wednesday I was invited by the Director of Photography, Josh Kletzkin, to join the crew on one of their last days of filming. And, I have to say from what I had a peek at, it's pretty damn funny. Can't wait to see the finished product.
