Oregonian News Network's Cornelius Swart and Gang of Four/North's Dave Allen at Beer & Blog

PUB & PRESS: The Oregonian and OregonLive.com are currently working with a select group of local bloggers to connect OregonLive readers to blogs and independent websites around the state via The Oregonian News Network.

The program allows blog headlines to appear on OregonLive.com and direct readers to the partner sites to get the rest of the scoop. This program is designed to complement The Oregonian News Network—which currently works with 9 hyperlocal news blogs and independent news sites.

So what might us little bloggers and the mighty Oregonian News Network have in common? Apparently it's beer.

I attended the most recent "Beer and Blog" event on Friday at the Green Dragon Brew Pub in Southeast PDX where ONN's own Cornelius Swart passed out drink tickets and chatted up this pilot project.  If selected to be a part of the ONN, bloggers get training, technical support and significant referral traffic (OregonLive gets over 3 million unique visitors a month).

In return, OregonLive and its subscribers get more news from a broader geographic spectrum.

And, at least from the looks of this party, everyone gets more beer.
