Chef Ben Dyer, "Sous Chefs" Erin and Bjorn, and Low Country Crab Boil
COOKING COUNTRY: "Charity never tasted so good," said The Standard's Bob Speltz in the middle of a garden that was in the middle of a field at Ridgefield Wash.'s Red Truck Farm.
The occasion was a late afternoon farm dinner and one of the star events for "Cooking for Kids," a benefit for Morrison Child and Family Services.
We joined up with Speltz and our friend, Deanna Haley from Boeing, to dine on the cuisine of Ben Dyer of Laurelhurst Market, Simpatica Dining Hall and Ate-Oh-Ate Hawaiian Restaurant.
Dyer brought along his own kids, Erin and Bjorn, to Ridgefield's Red Truck Farm to help him create an incredible meal that included straight from the gardens eats and Grochau Cellar Wines.
The highlight had to be Ben's Low Country Crab Boil with Dungeness Crab, Oregon Crawfish, Prawns, Smoked Andouille Sausage, Corn (still on the cob), and Sweet Leaf Potatoes in Shrimp Broth. GAWD..it was soooo good!
