Leather Storrs just after he watched himself win on "Extreme Chef" at Guild Public House

A FOOD STAR IS BORN: Late Thursday night a rather rowdy crowd converged on the Guild Public House.

And, no it wasn't just the legislative aides who were getting their drink on now that this year's session finally wrapped up yesterday afternoon in Salem.

These late night scene makers were at the Guild to support the one and only Leather Storrs and his break-out performance on the Food Network's "Extreme Chef."

It was the very first episode of this very new foodie show and a group of Storrs friends, family and co-workers who bust their butts above the Guild, at the neighboring Noble Rot, were there to see if Leather —who had not seen the show yet—could pull it off.

And, guess what? He did!

Not only did he win $10,000 (which he told me later is going to use that money to pay some bills) but Storrs also won over the audience with his winning t.v.-friendly personality (this guy was born to have his own show) as well as his "Leather-isms"—the dude is great with a sound bite such as "Leather just might make leather" and he loves nothing better to throw around the occasional fancy or foreign word.

He also proved his state proud when, during a torrential rain storm, he refused to grab an umbrella for fear his "native Oregonian status would be revoked."

Way to go Leather! Why do I have a feeling this won't be the last time we see him on this show?
