CELEB-U-WATCH: For years there has been this rumor floating around that Johnny Depp bought a place in Oregon, specifically Southern Oregon.

I've never known whether to believe that or not, but the people who told me about that one are not the types to trade in celeb-u-bragging.

Maybe (and this is a BIG maybe) that's why so many people have contacted me about seeing Johnny Depp in Portland, Oregon in the last week or so.

There was the sighting on Mississippi (just yesterday), and another, a few days ago, on the streets of downtown.

This persistent rumor is either or true, or the sun is obscuring some local residents vision...and common sense.

Now, why would Monsieur Depp be in Portland? Doesn't he live in France?

Is it, as some are saying, because he's a big Bugs Bunny/Mel Blanc fan and he was just inducted as an honorary member of the Oregon Cartoon Institute?

Hmmmm...inquiring minds are freaking out right now.
