Dinner With PDX Theater Brigade Delish & Delightful
Katy Liu, Adrienne Flagg and Adam Ho at PTB's Dinner With The Directors
DINNER THEATER: On Thursday night Juan Martinez and I were very honored to be the "honored guests" at a private dinner to raise funds for the Portland Theatre Brigade. The intimate four course "Dinner With The Directors" featured local farm fresh foods along with cocktails and wines tailored to each course and was held in the beautiful pied-à-terre of PTB supporter and director Russell Dodge located on the Southwest waterfront.
Not to be missed that night was a "surprise guest chef" who is not only talented in the kitchen but is quite an entertainer in her own right. Katy Liu, a budding 8-year-old baker as well as a PTB "theater kid," dazzled the party with her puff pastries and winning smile. She was also quite a helper to Chef Tim. Other evening highlights included bartender Adam Ho's asparagus ice cubes and pipe-smoke infused Vietnamese coffee cocktails as well as PastryGirl's delicious desserts.
Since 1999 PTB has been empowering young people to create and tour meaningful, cultural stories to area schools for free. Proceeds from Dinner with the Directors will enable to Brigade to complete its tour to over 30 area schools as well as a public performance at Curious Comedy Theatre.
Founded by Adrienne Flagg, through a partnership with the City of Portland/Parks and Rec, PTB is a much needed program for kids. When city-wide theatre programs were cut the families, schools and even Mayor Tom Potter asked that it continue as a non profit. It continued successfully in partnership with the IFCC. When that organization closed it became clear there was still a call to continue the Brigade.
And now it's our job to keep it going.
Congrats to Adrienne and her crew for an amazing dinner. I can't wait until the next one!
