Chilly Willies: Pearl District's Red Hot Red Dress Party
Red Dress Party people in various states of red-hawtness
RED HOT & RARING TO GO-GO: For about a week around this time of year people always asks me, "soooo, what was the Red Dress Party really like?"
I guess they hope I'll spill beans on one of the biggest boy-crazy bacchanals of the year.
Well, so here it goes.
On Saturday night The Red Dress Party returned to its roots—sort of. For the first time since its inception (when it all went down in Jeff Hawthorne's basement) RDP took place in what is primarily a residential neighborhood—smack dab in the middle of the Pearl District—next to the Low Brow Lounge.
That meant extra security, strange maze-like traffic patterns connecting all the different rooms (the space once housed a couple of arty galleries) together and a bit of feeling that the whole thing might get shut down at anytime. That extra edgy vibe whipped the 1,000+ mainly male party-goers into a red dress frenzy.
And, truth is, this year's RDP was very hot and a bit cold. The temp in our town was close to freezing on Saturday making everyone's nips nippy. But, in true RDP fashion, it didn't seem to slow anyone down. At all.
I saw stuff I probably shouldn't have. And I hiked my own dress up to a much shorter level than is appropriate for a man my age. And I don't think I will ever get the image of Justin Oswald's ensemble out of my head.

I would've liked to stay a bit longer and watch the party get (if possible) a little bit stranger, but, for now, here's a look at this year's big RDP blow-out:
