Heaven in PDX: Storm Large & The Oregon Symphony

LADY STORM: Storm Large performed on Friday night with the Oregon Symphony.

Okay, she didn't really perform as much as gather the energy of a full orchestra, funnel it through a Michelle DeCourcy-gown covered body, and unleash through it through that golden throat of hers to a sold-out crowd at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.

I'm sure there were more than a few season ticket holders who were a wee bit...er..."surprised" when Ms. Large used some of the more "colorful" words in her repertoire. But hey, I didn't see anyone leave due to a few swear words. And I swear the audience was as sucked into the show as any of those I've seen her perform in front of at Dante's, maybe more.

For a house of around 2,500 the show was very intimate, as if Storm was singing to each and every one of us. And in a weird way, she was. At least that's what it felt like when she belted out her own tunes as well as rock ballads and Broadway standards, back by the Symphony, her band, and special guests including Holcombe Waller and The Healers. Following the show Large gathered with her buddies for an after-party at the Heathman, and that's where I snapped a few pictures of my favorite gal and her friends.

Please tell me someone was taping that performance! I would LOVE to be able to relive it and show it to friends... hint hint.

Any idea when she will be back in PDX for more? I really would like to see and missed this time around.

Bryan, you truly captured the spirit and essence of the evening. Bravo! @ Nels i don't think that it was recorded. We spoke with Carlos at the last outing with Storm and he mentioned that there was way too much paper work involved.
