Party On: Thomas Lauderdale, Sam Adams, Aurora Josephson, Juan Martinez, China Forbes & Jill Spitznass

PARTY REPORT: Thomas M. Lauderdale and Philip Iosca, China Forbes and Adam Levey, Ari Shapiro, Paige Powell, Karen Brooks, Nate Overmeyer and Sarah Dougher, Bill Tennant, Peter Murray and Jason Mitchell co-hosted The 10th Annual Holiday Party at the HQ of Pink Martini near the Willamette River in downtown Portland on Wednesday night.

This is thee party of the year. A place where you'll rub elbows with celebrated film-makers, city mayors and rock stars. As always Mint's muse/mixologist Lucy Brennan served up tasty cocktails, but in a new twist to the annual event, platters of hot flatbread from the folks at Tastebud were fired up in a street-side oven and passed around to the party-goers.

And what party-goers! Alongside NPR radio-babe, Ari Shapiro, was the lead singer of Blind Pilot, Israel Nebeker. I had a chance to visit with Storm Large, who just returned home after appearing in Harps and Angels in Los Angeles. Cinematographer Eric Alan Edwards was there too. He made the quick trip home for the holidays from Atlanta where he is currently shooting The Change-Up with Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman. Politicians were also there, including Jefferson Smith, Earl Blumenauer (in a camo-tux-ensemble that defied fashion logic) and Mayor Sam Adams in a cowboy hat.

Hats actually seemed to be a big theme at the party. Artist Mary Josephson as well as her daughter Aurora (who is providing aural accompaniment across the globe for the Merce Cunningham Dance Co.) dazzled in delightful toppers. Some of the men wore fetching fedoras, author/icon Tom Spanbauer covered his scalp with a very cool head wrap and everybody else, including the mayor, donned Lauderdale's trademark straw cowboy hats that were provided by the dozens near the front entrance.

Around 10 pm the holiday sing-a-long began and we ended up leaving the still very lively party around 1 am. How time flies when you are having the time of your life.
