A Walk In My Shoes star Jana Lee Hamblin and director John Kent Harrison

SHOE BIZNESS: It wasn't exactly a big Hollywood premiere. There was no red carpet. No paparazzi (well, except for me). But there was an open bar. And a whole helluva lot of excited local folks who had either worked on or knew someone who worked on "A Walk In My Shoes."

The movie—shot in Portland, Oregon and using primarily local actors and crew members—premieres tonight on NBC-TV as part of a new collaboration between Wal-mart and Proctor & Gamble called "Family Movie Night."

Last night the movie had its "local premiere" at the Bagdad.

A sweet, touching and just a little mom-friendly flick, the film stars Nancy Travis (Three Men and a Baby) as a stressed out teacher who ends "switching" into the body of an even more stressed out "mom" played to perfection by Portland's own Jana Lee Hamblin. It's actually pretty cool. Think "Touched By An Angel" as directed by Gus Van Sant.

Prior to the screening director John Kent Harrison said he "fell in love" with Portland and in Portland. He plans to move here in February and continue making films from his new home base. And, oh by the way, if you can't catch it tonight the film will, of course, be available beginning Saturday, December 4, at Wal-mart.
