STREET BEAT: Gotta love those British tabloids. This week Manchester United's much-buzzed about striker Wayne Rooney has been spotted in the Portland area, primarily on Nike's Beaverton campus and, this weekend, at Irving Street Kitchen in the Pearl District (click here to see him in front of the posh restaurant). But what do the U.K. tabs decide to focus in on regarding the married soccer player who has been, as of late, the subject of sordid media fodder regarding alleged hooker hook-ups? "The 25-year-old striker has been spending long days working with trainers at Nike's sports complex in Beaverton, Oregon," says an article in The Daily Mail. "But he is based at a hotel in nearby Portland, which boasts more strip clubs per capita than any other city in the US." Hmmmm...guess it was a slow news day across the pond.
