Wordstock: Authors Party At Ace/LiveWire at Aladdin
Courtenay Hameister and Chelsea Cain at Wordstock Authors Reception at Ace Cleaners
WORD UP: So, I was a bad boy. I didn't actually make it to Wordstock. But, I did make to one of the various swanked-out parties as well as the party-like atmosphere of the Livewire show that was devoted to Wordstock.
And I have to say, both were a blast.
At Friday's authors reception, held at the Ace Cleaners, I didn't know a lot of people. But I did know the incredibly talented Jon Raymond and his equally cool wife Emily Chenoweth (these writers are sort of my NoPo neighbors), the adorable Viva Las Vegas, the charming Courtenay Hameister, the evocatively quirky Chelsea Cain and the genius that is both Matt Bors and Steve Almond as well as others.
On Saturday night I joined my acupuncturist, Andrew Hill, for a spine-tingling good time at a Livewire! Radio show taping at The Aladdin Theatre. As both of that evening's shows were dedicated to Wordstock, hostess/Smarty McSmarty-pants, Courtenay Hameister, made sure to keep the conversations lively and oh so fresh. And the music was awesome including Sara Jackson-Holman, a newbie from Bend, Ore. who reminds me of Adele meets Diane Birch. During intermission I was able to nab a photo of Wordstock's Greg Netzer and my friend, Clown Girl author Monica Drake (above) as well as a few other members of the lively audience.
