Brunch Club: Caffe Vita Kicks Off P:ear Barista School
Caffe Vita's Chad Freilino at Brunch Responsibly
BRUNCH HOUR: Early Sunday morn, deep in Old Town (and smack dab in the middle of Race for The Cure) P:ear hosted its first ever "Brunch Responsibly" four-course breakfast/lunch. Created by Jason French (Ned Ludd) and Adam Sappington (Country Cat) the morning nosh celebrated the grand opening of the p:ear barista school. With drinks donated by House Spirits and ingredients donated by Whole Foods, it was also an opportunity to taste cafe au laits and other frothy coffee drinks from the Seattle-based Caffe Vita who is not only overseeing a coffee cart that opens today and will be entirely operated by members of p:ear's barista school, but will soon be opening its first Portland coffee-roasting-house on Northeast Alberta Street (not to be confused with the nearby Vita Cafe) in the next month, says Caffe Vita's coffee cutie Chad Freilino.
The morning ended with an amazing set by Tahoe Jackson. Now, that's what a nice way to start the day.
