Stormin' The Streets: Bluehour Ten Party Lives Large
Kenny Giambalvo, Storm Large and Bruce Carey at Bluehour's 10th Anniversary.
INTO THE BLUE: The Bluehour 10th Anniversary Street Party was beyond fabulous.
Not only was it great to see so many old friends, but oh...my...god..the food was so friggin' GOOD.
A benefit for Mercy Corps, BH10 took place on NW 13th Avenue, between Everett and Davis Street, on Sunday night. And the 400-plus person party could not have been more perfect: the weather, the stars (I'm talking about the ones in the sky), Chef Kenny Giambalvo's tasty food, Via Tribunali's incredible pizza pies, Caffe Vita's coffee drinks, and the cocktail concoctions of Tommy Klus. Well, Iike I said it was really, really neat.
And then there was Storm Large. With those incredible lungs of hers, Ms. Large and her band-mates somehow elevated an already rocking party into the stratosphere with their set of Storm standards. She even made a new friend, a little girl named "Lily" who seemed to know every Storm song (except the naughty ones) by heart.
And, heart, well, that was a big part of the evening too.
Owner Bruce Carey and his crew at Bluehour know exactly what they are doing—and they put their heart and soul into every bit of this now 10-year-old biz. This is my favorite restaurant in Portland, and this party reminds me why.
No one does it better than Bluehour.
