The Happy Couple: Mike King and Julia Bartholomew atop the roof of the Hotel deLuxe

ROOFTOP BLISS: The weather report had predicted rain for Saturday night. But the sun shone down on the wedding of Julia Bartholomew and Mike King with one of this spectacularly magical sunsets that only happen when that golden orb crosses over the west hills into twilight. The tippy top of the Hotel deLuxe's parking garage was the wedding site for these two designers (she does costumes for really cool films; he does graphics for really cool bands). The open space provides incredible views of the city, but not much cover from the weather. So it was especially sweet that the weather gods were in harmony with this harmonious couple. Mike and Julia provided fans for guests to beat away the late-day sun as well as a sizzling Middle Eastern feast, Sol Pops, Stumptown coffee and late night vegan tacos. And the music that kept everyone dancing all night was provided by DJ Shines and DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid. I was also totally smitten with the flowery centerpieces which were all made out of remnants of band adverts that Mike had stored at his office; even Mike's flowery lapel was from an old Flaming Lips concert poster. Congrats to the very cute, and arty, couple. You guys rock.
