DRINK UP: Vodka For Victory: A Party for Karol Collymore consists of two of my favorite things. One is commissioner candidate Karol (pictured above). And, well, you can figure out the other one. Here's a little bit about the party that takes place on Wednesday night at Bar Bar: "While the city sleeps its summer slumber and for some politics takes a back seat to beach combing, Portland's Friends of Karol Collymore burst into action, bringing forth a saucy fundraiser to help feed the coffers of our fave County Commission candidate. Kendall Holladay, Soft Rock Dee-Jay, will serenade in the Yacht Rock oeuvre… and a special Karol Kocktail called th"e Collymore Cooler" is imbued with the finest local vodka from Portland's NEW DEAL, will be on offer. Come sail away with us, yes?"

POWER BRUNCH: The guy on the left is Portland developer Terry Bean. That other guy is President Obama. The picture was taken recently at The White House. Yes, that White House.

You see, Terry is a pretty cool guy and he wanted me to tell you about a little party coming up. Well, actually it's more of a brunch. And its all to benefit the Human Rights Campaign. Pure Space is the place for "Bridges To Equality," a Sunday, Aug. 22, get-together to raise funds for HRC's efforts to take on such pesky problems facing the equality movement as DADT and Prop. 8. The event will feature Ross Matthews of The Tonight Show as well as John Berry, the director of U.S. Office of Personnel Management (p.s. if you are a federal employee he's your boss). Terry will be there. Will you?
