MOVIE NIGHT: I think I was almost as nervous as director James Westby. The occasion was the very first "viewing" of Westby's wonderful new film "Rid of Me" with an actual, real, live audience. Well, it was mainly just friends, family and a few well-placed folks in the movie industry who gathered at the Hotel deLuxe's Screening Room on Thursday (it was movie night as the top of the hotel's parking lot was also hosting the Northwest Film Center's Top Down viewing of "Little Darlings" too).

Now, I don't know if I am supposed to say this or not, but the film is absolutely, friggin' AWESOME. It includes a break-out performance by Katie O'Grady, as the film's central character, "Meris," and exceptional work by the likes of Storm Large, Rita Parrish and Orriana Herman. The guys in this film aren't too shabby either. But this black comedy is definitely all about what it's like to be a woman in the modern world. This is a very funny film.
