Volunteers Doing What's Needed to Turn A Shipping Container into TBA's Box Office

BOXED IN: Leave it to PICA, and its always interesting TBA Festival, to come up with a new and unique vessel in which to house its box office for the upcoming fest.

Their new Central Box Office is housed in a shipping container specially converted for TBA by Boora Architects. And it opens to the public on Tuesday, right on the steps to Washington High School.

According to PICA's Kristan Kennedy, BOORA architects picked out the "least smelly" shipping container they could find, snipped a few holes into it, and then plopped it on the steps of the Washington High School, the home to a trio of main stage performances, the ON SIGHT Visual Art installations (including a very cool one by Storm Tharp), and all of the late-night energy that is THE WORKS.

And as for the container itself? Does Kennedy worry it might get messed up at such a creative confluence? "We have no illusions that it won't get tagged," says Kennedy.
