Is Terry Porter About To Become Blazer's New General Manager?

PLAY BALL: Could the Portland Trailblazers be on the verge of giving former Blazer dream-team-er Terry Porter, a plumb position in that organization, possibly even replacing ousted General Manager Kevin Pritchard?

I know very little about the inner workings of a professional basketball organization, but I do know who Terry Porter is, and I do know what Trail Blazer President Larry Miller looks like.

So when you see them together...well, that seems like news...or at least a good piece of gossip.

So I was a bit surprised to see both of these gents dressed to the nines and hanging out at The Nines Hotel Tuesday night on the balcony of the super swanky Departure Restaurant and Lounge (and, no, I didn't have the balls to take a picture).

This is an interesting sighting due to the fact that last August, the now Portland-based, Porter said he was taking the year off, following the early release of his contract as the head coach for the Phoenix Suns. At the time he said he wanted to focus on his personal life and family.

Well, that year is just about up. And where is Porter showing up? Well, only at Michael Jordan's favorite Portland restaurant and perhaps the most notable "see and be seen" watering hole in town.

Add to that fact, that Miller indicated in published reports that he would be spending this very week to meet with potential candidates for the job.

Porter and Miller seemed to enjoy the view of the city.

Wonder if this means they might be enjoying a view of the Rose Garden together too. We can all dream, can't we?

And it sure as hell beats doing the next season of "Dancing With The Stars."
