Pretty Boy: Whatever Happened to Soloflex's Scott Madsen?
SOLO MAN: Soloflex has come up in a few conversations lately. I can't tell you why, but sometime this summer I'll probably be able to let that cat of the bag. Well, anyway, thinking about Soloflex made me think about Scott Madsen. Don't remember Scott Madsen? He was the model you always saw in all the ads for Soloflex (like above). He was also the poster boy of my young gay adulthood. According to ethnographic researcher Thomas Kraemer in a '07 blogpost, who referenced an Oregon Magazine article from 1984, during the early 80's Scotty boy was "a teen heartthrob profiled in the pages of 'Tiger Beat,' a pin-up boy in San Francisco's gay bars and a symbol of commercial success sought after by Richard Avedon, Christian Dior and Universal Studios." And he was from Oregon. Kraemer's post indicates that Madsen was a former Hillsboro, Oregon high school gymnast who was bussing tables at McCormick's Fish House when ahe responded to an ad calling for a gymnastic-build model for a test Soloflex ad in 1982. Kraemer's post also indicates that Madsen wasn't too fond of all the attention he received from men: While talking about all the business deals resulting from the ad, Scott Madsen said, "I've been chased around the room by faggots. Everyone's trying to take you for a ride in the East."
A quick Wiki search indicates the now 49-ish year old lives in Vancouver, Washington. But that's about all I've come up with. Anybody got the 411 on this once-impossible-to-miss model?

The uncle guy is actually a major control freak and is very manipulative and got my dad's mom to have him come live with him for 6 years while my dad's mom got over a divorce. I should know, I was his girlfriend around the time all the criminal charges happened. I thought he was working for Adair still, not knowing he had been fired and was being investigated. He never bought me extravagent gifts so there were no signs.
He planned a future with me, and got me pregnant in 2009. Then, suddenly there was a total switch in him. Now I know why, answers a lot of questions. He ran out on his responsibility as a father. Not the first time from what I hear. Oh, I also found out he was married (wife number 2) while with me. I wonder how he explained all the nights away from home when he was with me. He is a real piece of work.
FYI - He looks nothing like the Soloflex guy you all adored. He is out chubby and really out of shape.
