Thank God It's Monday: American Sueno Opening, Xana-done, FYE Goes For Moore

WET SUENOS: I tend to agree with Richard Wattenberg's Oregonian review here, but overall, I was pretty impressed by Teatro Milagros production of American Suenos. And the opening night after party kicked ass. Not only did the star of the show, Joaquin Lopez (above), provide the heart and soul of this compelling show, his family's biz, La Bonita, provided incredible platters of tamales. The bevvies—shots of tequila included—kept the evening rollling, too.

XANA-DONE: Xanadu has left the building, (the Keller actually) but not without me having the chance to see it one more time. Yes, I went on Saturday night. Again. Before the show moved on to Seattle. It was great. Juan and I even took a picture. The picture was taken by Bend Bulletin reporter Nick Budnick (he was their with his girlfriend, Willamette Week reporter, Beth Slovic). Yes, I had no idea Budnick was a musical theater lover too.

FYE GETS POLITICAL: Pawing through the used DVD racks at the Lloyd Center FYE store, I came across a modified tab title for Fahrenheit 9/11 (see photo above) in the documentary section of this national music/video chain. So what are you trying to tell us FYE? I'm pretty curious what your corporate HQ would say about your local editorializing of Michael Moore's film. Hmmmm....
