Thank God It's Monday: Gina Noell's Nog-erator, Laura Shinn No Longer A Brides Editor, Animal Crack For Xmas?

ON THE (NAUGHTY) LIST: Icy roads be damned. Despite impending weather conditions, Gina Noell (pictured above with former Willamette Week staff writer Patty Wentz) and Michael Cubbon were determined to throw their annual holiday shindig—their 8th—at their chic Northeast Portland home. Not only did they have plenty of prawns and salmon lox for guests, like Lisa Schroeder, Marty Hughley, Kate Sokoloff and the seasonally-name challenged Mary Chris Mass, to partake in, they also had a door man. Yes, nothing says the holidays more than a house-bound bouncer. There's something about being on that "list" that feels so festive and downright naughty.
Here's a few photos from the party:
ALWAYS A BRIDES EDITOR? Ever since I worked with her on fashion features at my old paper I've kept an eye on the always fashionable Laura Shinn. Now I've just found out she is making an exit as the editor of Oregon Bride to pursue other endeavors. Here's what she had to say in her most recent email: I'm still working part-time at lucy as a copywriter, so I'll just be freelancing, writing more for myself and enjoying what's known as free time, which is weird since I haven't had any since 2005. So excited!" She also said, "anyone interested in the position that has mag/edit experience should give me a shout."
And as for the job. Here it is:

Oregon Bride editor Part time, contract position Two issues per year: January and July
CRACK ME UP: Is this price tag on the pic above—taken on Sunday in a big box store near Portland's International Airport—revealing that the national retailer has gone ahead and developed a line of gourmet kibble for your canine with substance abuse issues? Just asking. |
