Samir Khurshid at Calligram Falcon Fellowship Exhibit
ARTY PARTY: On Saturday night, above NW Portland's Bridgeport Brewing, I was one of the first to view a collection of stunning new oil paintings completed over the course of the first Calligram Falcon Fellowship.
A night of art, music, and libations the party was to celebrate the career-changing year of five of Oregon's most accomplished painters who all benefited greatly from one of the Northwest's largest arts fellowships. The artists, including Stephanie Buer, Samir Khurshid, Molly Maine, Nathaniel Praska, and Alexander Rokoff, showed off their new works in a space that was, until recently, the Portland office and studio space for filmmaker Gus Van Sant. I think the last time I was in the space was for a screening of Elephant. Let's hope the good vibes that inhabit the building rub off on all the great art currently being showcased in this space.
