Dr. Geof Beasley, Valerie Day, Juan Martinez, Ted Wheeler, John Forsgren, Carl Halvorson, Diane Syrcle, Lisa Watson

IN THE GARDEN: A visit to Drs. Jim Sampson and Geof Beasley's Sherwood, Ore. gardens, Bella Madrona, is always a special day. I was reminded of that fact this weekend when we joined the good doctors on their estate for a Basic Rights Oregon Garden Party. I thoroughly enjoyed walking the grounds of this massive enclave of art, ideas and nature. It really does the soul good. I imagined that's how many of the guests who joined Jim and Geof, including politicos Ted Wheeler and Brad Avakian, felt too. I not only enjoyed the view but also the wine from Sokol Blosser, the nibbles from Devil's Food Catering and the music from the legendary chanteuse, Valerie Day and the Vibe Quartet. A lovely day in the garden, indeed (and if these plants could talk...)
