RIGHTS ON THE ROAD: One thing I've learned watching my partner, Juan, and his colleagues at Basic Rights Oregon is that if we hope to secure rights for lgbt folks in our state, our entire state, then we have to spend time in communities all over the state. Such was the case on Sunday when we joined the good folks of that region at Broken Bread in West Salem Oregon.

Doug Davault and Clark McDonald, these two terrific gents who have hosted Basic Rights Oregon annual summertime garden party in Salem, Ore. in previous years, once again hosted the party and extended their hospitality to this new-ish Salem farm-to-table fine dining establishment. About 50 folks gathered on Broken Bread's back patio for an afternoon of enlightened conversation that is sure to help the cause statewide.
