PORTLAND PRIDE: Mayor Sam Adams said this was his "19th Pride Parade." At least that's what I thought he said as he was getting ready to march on Sunday morn, one more time, in support of lgbtq rights. The number isn't so important as the fact that he's always been there for us. As were the thousands who marched in the (much shorter than I ever remember) parade and those who lined the streets in support.

Sometimes the parade gets a bad rap for being too "gay" or not "gay enough" and that maybe we don't need them anymore.

On Sunday, just fresh from a trip far from Portland, the parade was a very important reminder to me that we "matter" and we are "loved."  I was very happy to march with my friends and family from Basic Rights Oregon...can't wait to do it again next year.

Above and below (as long as you have flash on your computer) you will see pics from the parade, as well as photos from the Waterfront Fest and the Stark Street Block Party.
