BAYOU BASH: The big Portland Center Stage gala, BLUES RENDEZVOUS: A NIGHT ON THE BAYOU kicked off on May 5 with a 5:30 p.m. cocktail reception in a parking garage near the Gerding Theatre. The setting was just a wee bit odd, yet wonderful, and the perfect space to get into the mood of the evening, which was ALL about the "blues."

Blue and bluesy attire dotted the crowd with nods to both The Blue Brothers (there were lots of Ray Bans in the crowd) and blues legends. The evening also included a seated dinner in the Gerding, which had been transformed to look like a moss-covered bayou (but truth is I think the real inspiration was the restaurant at the end of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland). There was lots of  live music and entertainment, a live auction (hosted by the incredible Rodney Hicks of stage and screen fame) and a blues house after party with Lisa Mann and her Really Good Band (which were really good).
