CRACK UP: We came. We cracked crab. We conquered. Okay, so I came in second, actually I tied for second, with Blazer broadcaster Adam Bjaranson at Friday's big "Celebrity Crab Cracking" competition hosted by Ringside Restaurants at the Portland Seafood and Wine Festival. The contest as well as the fest took place at the Oregon Convention Center on Friday and Saturday. And it was quite the event. As for the contest, my fellow contestants (I was a last minute addition after a real live Blazer alum had to drop out) included tv/radio/funny man Dave Anderson, weather dudes Fox-TV's Andy Carson and KGW's Nick Allard and Rob Smith from the Portland Business Journal. Smith actually took home the crown, a second time for the crab cracking expert, who literally had his crab shells flying during the ten minute competition. Following the big contest, I came back to the fest on Saturday with my friends, Kristy and Joe McKenzie, and we had a blast tasting all the wines this very cool event had to offer. Okay, maybe we had too much fun..or wine...I can't remember.
