Road Trip Dance Party: Q Night & Astoria, Oregon
Juan Martinez, Peter Zuckerman, DJ Gray Matter, Mayor Sam Adams, Jim Defeo and a bunch of cute dancing guys
SEA DANCE: What do you get when you mix a quiet, coastal town and a raging, kick ass dance party?
Q Night at the Astoria Coffeehouse & Bistro.
Wow. Now this was a party...as like in something that only happens once in a blue moon...or at the old Studio 54.
Yes, I've went to previous Q Nights—in support of LGBTQ rights in Clatsop County—but this was different from all the rest.
Maybe it was because of the mild weather in the dark days of January. Or that the streets of Astoria were pretty much deserted. I am not really sure why this party was so DAMN hot. But it was. With really cute former loggers working as bartenders. DJ Gray Matter spinning what was only the best set ever. And a throbbing, sweaty crowd that seemed to be dancing as one large mass connected at their way too cute booties. Or maybe it was just the fact that everyone there was there to have F-U-N. Mayor Sam Adams made an early appearance during the night and there were lots of other recognizable Portland faces, but it was the town's residents who really tore this place up making it—as Facebook-er said—the "hottest place within 100 miles." And it was. Oh. My. God. Was it ever.
