On December 22, 2011 Linda Lindsay of Stone Wolf Vineyards will transform her vineyard, in McMinnville, Oregon, to bring comfort and community to the people of her county.

Oregon is home to the nation’s second highest unemployment rate, but with women such as Ms. Lindsay, there is hope this holiday season. It’s not a “charity” or a “cause” it’s a community where over 4,000 people can come and receive food, toys, and warm clothes.

In 1998 Ms. Lindsay sat in the comfort of her home at her Oregon Vineyard and came across an article in the local paper regarding a shortage of meat for the food bank’s holiday drive, leaving a number of men and women hungry for the holidays. Ms. Lindsay knew she could not simply sit at her vineyard with these terrible discrepancies surrounding the people of her county. Her immediate thought was “we can fix that,” and she did.

That year, Ms. Lindsay filled her car with cases of turkey and headed to the food bank, determined to bring some light to those who were not as unfortunate. Over ten years later Ms. Lindsay is still working with the local food bank, but she has welcomed them to her vineyard. She began working with the Roth’s Grocery chain to help with the food supply, but Linda and her staff don’t stop with meals. It is a community celebration with food, toys, and warm clothes.

Linda was able to reach over 700 families last year alone (over 3,200 people), and a recent anonymous donation has allowed her to begin financially supporting some of the bigger food banks in the area. This year is also the first year in which toy companies have donated to Ms. Lindsay’s cause. The Lindsay’s are thankful to the wonderful people at BrickStix, Kite and Rocket Research: Nerf Gunz, Calico, The Tuneables, Alphabet Kids, Imagination Brands, Discover Games and Kubit2Me for giving these gifts.

Linda will provide food, clothing, and toys for over 825 families this year. Linda and her Stone Wolf Vineyards family feel blessed that they are in a position to help so many other people. The vineyard transforms into a winter wonderland where they can choose toys, food, and clothing. Families are welcome to help themselves and for a night they are able to forget their hardships in a setting they have created that is less "charity" and more "communal.

Linda has never made public her amazing efforts but we wanted to share that one woman and one small vineyard is doing more than their part to help thousands.
